Senior Java Developer (Core Java, Spring Boot, Oracle) (Hybrid)
About the role
As a Senior Java Developer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and optimizing enterprise applications that support critical business operations. You will be a valued member of the technology team and work collaboratively with architects, product owners, business analysts, database teams, and fellow engineers to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise applications using Core Java and Spring Boot.
- Develop and enhance RESTful APIs and microservices that enable secure and seamless integration across enterprise systems.
- Partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions and application designs.
- Optimize application performance through Oracle database design, query tuning, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, automation, and adoption of modern development best practices.
Work model
We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring up to 3 days per week in a client or Cognizant office in Calgary- Canada.

What you need to have to be considered
- 7+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Core Java and Spring Boot.
- Strong experience designing and developing RESTful web services and microservices architectures.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle databases, including schema design, SQL optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Solid understanding of Linux environments, including application deployment, process monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support.
- Experience performing complex problem analysis, root cause investigation, and resolution across application, integration, and database layers.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid, cross-functional environment.
- Experience with software development best practices, including code reviews, version control, build automation, testing, and CI/CD processes.

Canadian Pay Transparency Statement
We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $ 64,800 – 95,500 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
