Senior BI Support Engineer (Power BI & SSRS)

About the role

As a Senior BI Support Engineer (Power BI & SSRS), you will make an impact by providing advanced production support for reporting and analytics solutions, ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of Power BI dashboards and SSRS reports. You will collaborate with business stakeholders, data teams, and technical teams to troubleshoot complex issues, drive root cause resolution, and continuously improve reporting services.

In this role, you will

  • Provide L3 support for Power BI dashboards and SSRS reports, resolving production issues and ensuring platform stability.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring incidents and implement permanent solutions to prevent future issues.
  • Troubleshoot Power BI refresh failures, gateway connectivity issues, data model challenges, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Support SSRS report administration, deployment, scheduling, subscriptions, and data source configurations.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver timely resolutions while ensuring SLA compliance and service excellence.

Work Model

Hybrid | São Paulo, Brazil

This role follows Cognizant’s hybrid work model, requiring periodic onsite collaboration while supporting global teams and stakeholders.

What you need to have to be considered

  • Strong hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, including data modeling, DAX, and Power Query.
  • Solid experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), including report development, deployment, administration, and support.
  • Strong SQL skills, including query development, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with Power BI Gateway, Row-Level Security (RLS), workspace management, and application publishing.
  • Understanding of ETL concepts, data integration, and data warehousing fundamentals.
  • Experience working in L3 Production Support or Application Support environments.
  • Experience with ticketing and incident management tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Advanced English proficiency.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

These will help you stand out

  • Experience with Azure Analysis Services (AAS) or SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
  • Knowledge of Power Automate and automation frameworks.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management practices.
  • Experience supporting enterprise Business Intelligence and Analytics environments.
  • Microsoft Power BI certifications.
