About the role
As a Gen AI / Software Developer, you will make an impact by designing and building generative and agentic AI-driven applications that automatically generate code, pipelines, and web applications through prompts, while enhancing contact center operations using advanced AI solutions. You will be a valued member of the AI & Digital Engineering team and work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams, product owners, business stakeholders, and client leadership based in Charlotte, NC.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop, and maintain generative and agentic AI applications that automatically create code, pipelines, and web applications via prompts.
Integrate generative AI solutions into contact center operations to improve customer experience, automation, and operational efficiency.
Apply strong software engineering principles and design patterns to deliver clean, scalable, and maintainable code.
Optimize, fine-tune, and validate AI/LLM models to ensure performance, scalability, accuracy, and reliability.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers to accelerate adoption of AI-powered solutions.
What you need to have to be considered
Proven experience as a Software Engineer with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning solutions.
Hands-on experience with generative AI frameworks, large language models (LLMs), and agentic AI technologies.
Strong programming experience in Python and modern front-end frameworks such as React and/or Angular.
Experience designing modular, testable applications with unit testing frameworks and CI/CD practices.
Solid experience with AWS cloud services and modern DevOps workflows.
These will help you stand out
Experience applying NLP and computer vision techniques in real-world applications.
Background enhancing contact center or customer experience platforms using AI technologies.
Exposure to cutting-edge R&D initiatives including emerging technologies such as blockchain or quantum computing.
Demonstrated ability to stay current with rapidly evolving AI trends and frameworks.
Strong communication skills with experience providing technical guidance or mentorship to junior team members.

Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $83,250 – $112,5000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
