About the role
The Senior Oracle PL/SQL Developer will design, develop, and optimize complex database solutions within enterprise environments. This role requires strong expertise in Oracle database technologies, high-volume data processing, and performance tuning to build scalable, high-performing data solutions that support critical business operations.

In this role you will

  • Design and develop scalable solutions using Oracle database technologies
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, packages, and functions
  • Build high-performance data processing solutions, including bulk data loads and batch processing
  • Perform database performance tuning using AWR, TKPROF, and related diagnostic tools
  • Implement table and index partitioning strategies and data purging techniques
  • Develop and manage automated data loads using SQL Loader and similar tools
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Support database upgrades, patching, and system enhancements
  • Develop shell scripts to automate database and batch operations
  • Manage batch workflows using scheduling tools such as Control-M
  • Monitor database storage and perform basic DBA activities including space management

Work Model: 5 days onsite to Hartford, CT

What you need to have to be considered

  • 6–10+ years of experience in Oracle PL/SQL development
  • Strong expertise in Oracle Database (12c, 19c, or later)
  • Advanced proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and reports
  • Hands-on experience with performance tuning in high-volume systems
  • Experience with SQL Developer or equivalent tools
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Loader and bulk data processing
  • Knowledge of partitioning strategies and data lifecycle management
  • Experience with performance analysis tools such as AWR and TKPROF
  • Experience managing batch processing using Control-M or similar schedulers
  • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix shell scripting
  • Basic DBA skills including space management and database maintenance
  • Experience supporting database upgrades and migrations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Exposure to data warehousing or ETL concepts
  • Familiarity with system integrations and downstream applications
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, high-impact delivery environments

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $64,734 – $90,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program based on performance and subject to plan terms.
