About the role
The Senior Oracle PL/SQL Developer will design, develop, and optimize complex database solutions within enterprise environments. This role requires strong expertise in Oracle database technologies, high-volume data processing, and performance tuning to build scalable, high-performing data solutions that support critical business operations.
In this role you will
- Design and develop scalable solutions using Oracle database technologies
- Develop, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, packages, and functions
- Build high-performance data processing solutions, including bulk data loads and batch processing
- Perform database performance tuning using AWR, TKPROF, and related diagnostic tools
- Implement table and index partitioning strategies and data purging techniques
- Develop and manage automated data loads using SQL Loader and similar tools
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Support database upgrades, patching, and system enhancements
- Develop shell scripts to automate database and batch operations
- Manage batch workflows using scheduling tools such as Control-M
- Monitor database storage and perform basic DBA activities including space management
Work Model: 5 days onsite to Hartford, CT
What you need to have to be considered
- 6–10+ years of experience in Oracle PL/SQL development
- Strong expertise in Oracle Database (12c, 19c, or later)
- Advanced proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and reports
- Hands-on experience with performance tuning in high-volume systems
- Experience with SQL Developer or equivalent tools
- Hands-on experience with SQL Loader and bulk data processing
- Knowledge of partitioning strategies and data lifecycle management
- Experience with performance analysis tools such as AWR and TKPROF
- Experience managing batch processing using Control-M or similar schedulers
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix shell scripting
- Basic DBA skills including space management and database maintenance
- Experience supporting database upgrades and migrations
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $64,734 – $90,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program based on performance and subject to plan terms.
