We are looking for an experienced operations leader to own and drive our end-to-end Cash and Position Reconciliation function. As Deputy General Manager – Reconciliation, you'll take full ownership of transitioning, stabilizing, and continuously improving this critical workstream — leading people, processes, and client outcomes in a fast-paced, controls-focused environment.
This is a senior leadership position and the primary point of contact between our delivery organization and the client, responsible for building a high-performing operation from the ground up.
Location: Onsite Needham, MA - will be working a hybrid work schedule
In this role, you will:
Engagement Leadership & Transition
•Own the transition strategy for taking over Cash and Position Reconciliation from the client/incumbent, including knowledge transfer, documentation, and process mapping
•Establish governance frameworks, escalation protocols, and reporting structures
•Serve as the senior client contact for all reconciliation matters
Cash & Position Reconciliation Management
•Oversee end-of-day and intraday reconciliation across all accounts and asset classes (L1 and L2 services)
•Drive timely identification, investigation, and resolution of cash breaks and unreconciled items
•Partners with custodians, prime brokers, and counterparties to resolve discrepancies quickly
•Implement controls to minimize aged breaks and meet settlement deadlines
People & Team Leadership
•Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of leads and analysts
•Set clear accountability and performance metrics
•Foster a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement
•Manage resource planning and succession to support growth and SLAs
Risk, Controls & Compliance
•Maintain a robust control environment with documented SOPs and exception handling
•Ensure compliance with internal risk policies and regulatory/client requirements
•Identify and mitigate operational risks proactively
•Lead audit readiness and support internal/external audit reviews
Technology & Process Improvement
•Evaluate and optimize reconciliation platforms (Intellimatch, AutoRek, SmartStream, or equivalent)
•Champion automation initiatives to improve STP rates and reduce manual effort
•Partner with technology teams on system enhancements and UAT
•Drive process standardization and best-practice adoption
Client Relationship & Reporting
•Deliver regular MIS, dashboards, and performance reporting
•Own client SLAs and KPIs, ensuring consistent achievement
•Lead business reviews and governance forums with stakeholders
•Manage escalations and drive root-cause analysis and preventive action
What you need to have to be considered:
•15+ years in financial services operations, with significant time in Cash and/or Position Reconciliation
•Experience managing large reconciliation teams
•Track record leading client engagements, transitions, or outsourcing/insourcing initiatives in banking or asset management
•Experience working with custodians, prime brokers, and multi-asset portfolios
•Deep expertise in Cash and Position Reconciliation (equity, fixed income, derivatives)
•Hands-on experience with platforms such as Intellimatch, AutoRek, SmartStream TLM, Duco, or similar
•Strong understanding of trade lifecycle, settlements, corporate actions, and fund accounting
•Familiarity with AI-driven solutions is a plus
•Proven ability to lead large, diverse teams in a high-pressure, SLA-driven environment
•Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at C-suite level
•Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
•Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and execution skills
•Experience leading teams through change and transformation
Education
•Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, or a related field (required)
•MBA or postgraduate qualification in Finance/Operations (preferred)
•CFA, FRM, or CAIA certification (a plus)

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
