About the role
As a Sr. Generative AI Consultant – SAS to PySpark Modernization, you will make an impact by designing and building intelligent, AI-driven solutions that automate legacy code transformation and validation at scale. You will be a valued member of a strategic data modernization initiative, working closely with data engineers, AI specialists, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative, scalable, and high-accuracy solutions in actuarial and data domains.
In this role, you will:
- Design and develop agentic AI systems for automated SAS to PySpark code conversion and validation
- Build and orchestrate multi-agent workflows leveraging large language models (LLMs) for code parsing, transformation, optimization, and testing
- Develop RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines to retrieve legacy logic, reusable patterns, and business rules
- Create and execute automated testing frameworks to validate and reconcile SAS vs. PySpark outputs
- Integrate AI-driven solutions with AWS services such as Bedrock, S3, Glue, Lambda, and API Gateway

What you need to have to be considered
- 8–12+ years of experience in data engineering, AI solutions, or large-scale data modernization
- Strong expertise in Python and PySpark development
- Hands-on experience with AWS ecosystem (Glue, S3, Lambda, Bedrock, CloudWatch)
- Proven experience working with LLMs (Claude, OpenAI, or similar) and prompt engineering
- Deep understanding of RAG architectures and vector-based retrieval systems
- Strong proficiency in SAS programming and data pipelines (essential for transformation logic)
- Experience in ETL development and large-scale data migration
- Strong experience in data validation, reconciliation, and automated testing frameworks
These will help you stand out
- Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks and multi-agent orchestration (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph)
- Experience in actuarial or insurance domains (pricing, risk modeling, regulatory reporting)
- Exposure to MLOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for AI solutions
- Experience building reusable accelerators for modernization programs
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with cross-functional teams

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between $90,000 - $107,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
